Golden Week travel flows Outbound and inbound tourism
National Day tourism crowds across China
Oct 1–7
CCTV's foreign-media feature describes strong Chinese outbound holiday travel, sold-out longer-distance tours, IATA-attributed China–Australia bookings growth, and Skyrail manager Richard Berman-Hardman's account of extra staffing. It gives Thailand's estimated September 25–October 7 Chinese visitor/revenue figures and reports Malaysian hotel occupancy gains. The complete feature also covers inbound National Day tourism in China, including unidentified visitors at Shanghai's Yu Garden and Beijing discussing cultural experiences. Reported estimates, booking measures and the programme's openness/consumption interpretation remain attributed; they are not a single comprehensive final arrival tally.
CCTV reports busy tourism at the start of the 2026 National Day holiday, including more than 300,000 first-day visitors around Tian'anmen and more than 6,000 on Wuzhizhou Island. Landscapes, traditional performances, cultural markets and heritage crafts draw visitors in several provinces. Local counts retain their own scope; selected tourists describe pride and enjoyment. CCTV's October 4 continuation reports nearly 14% year-on-year growth at Mount Siguniang and over 125,000 Huangguoshu visits over the first three holiday days, extended Yangshuo rafting and diverse daytime, heritage and nighttime outings. These compatible local updates describe the continuing holiday tourism episode; no aggregate national visitor total is inferred. CCTV's October 3 accounts add ecological outings, Tianshan Tianchi's reported 25% first-two-day visitor growth, heritage and museum visits, local nighttime events and film-location tourism. Wangxian Valley's 200,000 holiday visitors remain a forecast; Shitanjing's over 10,000 daily visits refer to recent days. These are compatible local additions to the continuing national holiday episode, not a combined nationwide count. CCTV's October 6 continuation adds nearly 150,000 Chaka Salt Lake visits over the first five holiday days and over 3.85 million visitors at Beijing's 14 municipal parks. It presents scenic and cultural visits, boating, lantern and light shows and nighttime cruises, with one tourist's favorable testimony. Counts remain local and period-qualified; this is a continuation of the holiday tourism episode. CCTV's October 7 reports add more than 210 million holiday urban-park visits, 11,000 themed activities and 5.2 billion yuan in associated spending, citing the housing ministry. Chaozhou's more than 240,000 park visits are a local measure. Its culture review revisits holiday heritage outings. Its separate inbound report gives Beijing's 112,000 visits and Sichuan's 47,903 over the first six holiday days, with individual foreign visitors and service responses. Park visits, local counts and foreign visitor counts overlap and are not added into a national unique-tourist total. CCTV's October 9 review supplies Culture and Tourism Ministry estimates of 826 million domestic trips and ¥738.375bn spending over the seven-day holiday. It reports 107 million nighttime-cluster visits, up 5.6%, and 2.983 million inbound tourists, up 19% and 6.5% against the respective periods in the preceding two years. The account connects revolutionary, rural, heritage, nighttime, film and sports experiences to demand; Zeng Bowei describes willingness to pay for better experiences and higher service expectations. These national trip, local visit, spending and inbound measures retain their distinct scopes and are not summed as unique people.
