October 10 Zaporizhzhia bombing

Oct 10

Jörg Schönenborn attributes higher US fuel prices to Trump's Iran war and calls the Russian diesel arrangement a betrayal of Ukraine. Discussing Ukraine's attacks on Russian refineries, he says all but a handful of 32 major refineries have been damaged and that up to 70 percent of capacity was reportedly disabled at times, with limited global-market impact. Reporting from Kyiv, Susanne Petersohn describes the day's Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia; Nadiya Kosarieva laments destruction and Iryna says two 75-year-old friends were killed. Local authorities report at least 20 civilian deaths, including three children. The report recalls Trump's previous-evening diesel announcement and temporary US sanctions easing, then airs his thanks to Putin. Kyiv resident Oleksii fears sales revenue will buy weapons; Zelenskyy's written statement calls permission to sell petroleum products an investment in war. Petersohn explains the conflict with Ukraine's revenue- and fuel-denial strategy. Stefan Kornelius reiterates German sanctions, further European measures and Ukraine support. A separate Trump statement from a few hours earlier calls for a new Ukrainian president. Petersohn judges that Putin could gain revenue and a political split among Western partners. These causal and political assessments remain attributed; completed diesel delivery is not reported.

TSN reports Russian dawn bombing of Zaporizhzhia on October 10 killing seventeen people, including three children, and injuring seventeen, two seriously. Its on-scene report describes collapsed apartment buildings, damaged private homes and a kindergarten, prolonged rescues and relatives searching for missing people. Rescue work continues at several sites and October 11 is declared a mourning day. Zelenskyy links continued city bombing to reduced pressure on Russia and diesel-export sanctions relief, calls for Moscow to feel losses and promises a Ukrainian response. His causal assessment and pledge remain attributed. DD India's same-day bulletin independently reports seventeen killed, including three children, in Saturday's Zaporizhzhia attack and increased bombardment of the city. Its opening says at least seventeen; the main item says seventeen. It does not identify the weapon or final toll. This compatible shorter account is preserved separately from TSN's on-scene report. Tagesschau's same-day Kyiv package reports at least twenty civilians killed in the Zaporizhzhia attack and carries the same resident's account of two seventy-five-year-old friends killed and thrown from their home that appears in TSN's on-scene account. This matching testimony, city and day identify the same October 10 occurrence rather than the separate October 9 attack. Tagesschau's twenty and TSN/DD India's seventeen are differently aired provisional totals; none is silently substituted as a reconciled final count. RTVE's same-day international report shows rescuers recovering one of three children killed in the Zaporizhzhia building attack and reports at least fourteen other deaths there. This compatible source account supports the same occurrence without establishing a final toll; its separate short Kharkiv material is not assigned to this bombing. Oman TV's October 10 field roundup also reports at least seventeen killed and attributes more than sixteen wounded to Ukraine's Defence Ministry. This is another shorter attributed casualty account of the same day's bombing, retained alongside the other preliminary figures; its separate unnamed Odesa-bound ship claim does not belong to Zaporizhzhia.
