Iran's northern rain outlook Zarabi warns of flood risk
Iran issues October 10 rain outlook
Oct 10
Morteza Zarabi reports rain observed that evening in Mazandaran, Semnan, North Khorasan and Golestan and expects continued precipitation along the eastern Caspian and northeast, spreading into northern Razavi Khorasan. For the following day he forecasts lighter Caspian rainfall, southeastern thunderstorms and possible flooding or waterlogging in Mazandaran, Golestan, North Khorasan and northern Razavi Khorasan. A northwestern system is expected the day after, with lingering northeastern rain. He also discusses wind and degraded air quality in Tehran and expected eastern/northeastern conditions. Forecast hazards are not observed disasters, and later systems are not assumed identical to the ongoing rain episode.
In the October 10 weather briefing, Zarabi reports observed northern and northeastern rain and forecasts continuing eastern-Caspian/northeastern precipitation, possible October 11 flooding or waterlogging in specified northern provinces and southeastern thunderstorms. He forecasts a northwestern system on October 12 and wind/air-quality effects. No completed flood or single identity for every successive system is established.
