IIT Madras plans brain-centre dedication

Oct 11

The presenter says Modi will dedicate IIT Madras's Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre on Sunday. Tanvi Taneja then interviews its chief scientific officer Richa Verma about DHARANI, a second-trimester fetal-brain atlas she recalls releasing in early 2025 and describes as the largest dataset of its kind at cellular resolution. Verma credits equipment and computing developed at IIT Madras, discusses training models on cellular ground-truth data, calls the work early-stage, and says the released datasets are freely accessible. The world-scale claim remains hers and no clinical benefit is demonstrated. Her recalled release timing is retained as aired.

Modi is scheduled to dedicate IIT Madras's Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre on October 11. DD India explains the centre's cellular-resolution human-brain mapping, imaging, computation and work across ages and disorders; its interview setup explicitly announces the dedication. This is a planned ceremony, not the first release of DHARANI or a proven clinical result.
